Plaster casts

In the basement of the Archelogical Museum, there is a huge plaster cast collection. Fantastic stuff to draw. I was amazed by the size of the collection. Did quickly some gestures. Will definitely comeback.

  1. You are incredibly fortunate to have a good collection of plaster casts available. I have to pay anywhere between $200 and $2000 per cast here: the only way I can draw one is when I own it.

Good job finding and drawing them!

  2. Sorry to hear that. Had no idea how useful are theses casts for learning how to draw. Would have visited this much earlier. This collection and your recent excellent drawings have given me the kick to reattempt figure drawing.. To me it's the ultimate drawing ability test. If you can draw the human figure well, there is nothing you can't draw.

  3. I think you are right. I'd take it one step further and say that if you can drawn a realistic likeness of a face (cast or real), there is nothing you can't draw. But it appears to be more productive to be working up from basic shapes to a human head.

  4. And I'm glad, my human figure scribbles helped somehow. As always, you give me way too much credit.
